Project Explores Impact of 1970’s the EAGLE Spacecraft from TV Series “SPACE: 1999”on a Generation of Space Enthusiasts for Show’s 50th Anniversary.
MINNEAPOLIS (December 23, 2022) – FutureDude Entertainment, announced its partnership with Zero Point Zero Production Inc to produce “The Eagle Has Landed,” a documentary exploring the enduring worldwide passion and nostalgia for the Eagle—the iconic sci-fi spacecraft featured in the classic British TV program Space: 1999.
The documentary is set to be released in time for the show’s 50th Anniversary in 2025.
“Space: 1999” appeared on TV a few short years after the world watched Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon. The show’s unforgettable Eagle inspired a generation to envision a future in space and is still doing so decades later. The question we ‘ll explore is ‘why?,’” said Jeffrey Morris, founder, FutureDude Entertainment. “What is it about this imaginary craft that has captured and held imaginations for nearly 50 years?”
“The time is right to revisit the Eagle’s impact, as NASA’s Artemis Program is poised to put Americans back on the moon,” said Lydia Tenaglia, Executive Producer and co-founder, Zero Point Zero. “The documentary willexamine the dynamic intersection between art, science, and culture through this sci-fi icon’s impact on a generation.”
The documentary will feature never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with world renown artists, writers, actors, scientists, and collectors who all have been deeply impacted by the fictional vessel and add to its legacy today.
In addition to the film, the partnership is also developing a limited series that will examine other memorable sci-fi films and TV shows and their impact on the future of society.
The Eagle Has Landed will be executive produced by Jeffrey Morris, Anne Marie Gillen and Fredrick Haugen for FutureDude Entertainment and Christopher Collins, Susan Poretta, Lydia Tenaglia, and Craig H. Shepherd for Zero Point Zero Production. Morris will also serve as co-Director and appear on camera.
