Get a behind-the-scenes look at ‘Oceanus’ in new Animation World Network feature

Animation World Network recently featured FutureDude’s Jeffrey Morris in a new article about his short film Oceanus: Act One, which is now available to stream for free on the sci-fi channel DUST.

The article offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the 30-minute short, which has accumulated more than 1.2 million views on DUST’s YouTube channel in its first two weeks, was achieved with “one film set, three actors, a budget of less than $700,000 and one glass of water.”

“It’s an exciting thing to pull off,” Morris told Animation World Network. “There are people making sci-fi films right now by throwing tens of millions of dollars into visual effects. But we’re showing that it can be done on a really modest budget.”

Morris also discusses his plans for an eight or ten episode TV series that will reboot the Oceanus: Act One story from the beginning, as well as the accolades he’s received since the short’s release on DUST.

“I had a viewer who had seen Oceanus message me and say, ‘That 30 minutes was the first time in my entire life I liked science fiction.’ It was the biggest compliment I’ve ever gotten in my career. And I feel like I did my job right.”
