One of the unique aspects of Oceanus: Act One was its undersea dive-wear. As an independent production company focused on creating a low-budget film, we knew that the costumes needed to be just as amazing as all other aspects to make the film feel believable. Director/Production Designer Jeffrey Morris and illustrator Christopher Jones took inspiration from sci-fi greats like Star Trek: The Next Generation to create this sleek, futuristic unisex-design.

It was important that the suits looked high-quality, without using actual, cumbersome dive suits. To pull them off, FutureDude Entertainment sought the help of Hollywood-Based Global Effects—a company who has made numerous spacesuits for NASA and films like Armageddon and Deep Impact. The Oceanus suits were made of a breathable Nylon/Lycra blend, which allowed the actors to stay cool on set. The material also made the costumes look real while allowing us to stay within budget.

Our Oceanus cast—Megan Dodds and Sharif Atkins—looked fantastic in their final costumes. From the design and costume fittings to the screen, our costumes helped make this film even more cool!  We learned a ton that we will apply to making our full-feature, Oceanus: Odyssey One, look even better when it enters production later this year.  Keep an eye out for even more elaborate suits in this amazing film when it makes its debut!
